Staff
Our instructors have extensive experience evaluating Vermont residential structures, conducting energy audits, and recommending the appropriate energy renovations. They are down-to-earth, hand-on professionals with a solid grasp of the task at hand. While it's important that everyone understand the theory, they know that the real value comes with the practice.
Skillshop participants will have access to instructors after they head home to try out their newly-learned skills. Our instructors take pride in helping others get a good job done, and believe that every homeowner should have a good understanding of safety and building science.
Chip Patullo
Chip Patullo has been doing energy efficiency work since 1981. For the past 18 years, he's focused energy efficiency consulting. Chip lobbied to bring auditor certification to the state and was the first Vermont contractor certified by Building Performance Institute of America through VEIC in 2005. Chip believes that experiential learning is a great way to learn and he strives to see those light bulbs (compact fluorescent of course) go on for people from age 2 to 102. He has worked with everyone from apartment residents, to those setting up their house off the grid, to schools and businesses with big energy issues and maintenance problems. In his spare time, he bikes with his 2 boys around Lake Champlain, cooks, brews, reads, plays Japanese Festival drums with Burlington Taiko, and coaches youth soccer and baseball.
